AS THE POSITIVE RATE INCREASES IN MIAMI-DADE AND BROWARD, A NEW COVID VARIATION IS RAISING QUESTIONS.

MIAMI – The White House has declared a fresh public health emergency as COVID-19 infections are once again on the rise.
XBB.1.5, a brand-new variation, is swiftly gaining popularity.
According to Dr. Aileen Marty, an infectious disease specialist at FIU, “this specific variant is significantly more communicable and has a lot more immune evasion than all the prior generations of SARS COVID-2, which is why it’s taking over.”
It’s now difficult to determine what proportion of new COVID cases are related to the new variant, but figures indicate that there has been a considerable increase in cases, whether as a result of the new variant or holiday gatherings.
The optimism rate in Miami-Dade County before Thanksgiving was 9 percent and in Broward County, it was 9.3 percent.
